sachavonkarl74 Thanks Chris for suggesting this seemingly first release of the Oslo-based outfit Urstrid, playing old-school, icy, cold, somewhat melancholic Norwegian black metal, reminiscent of early Satyricon. Love the alternating almost dull, slow moments, followed by the fast stormy tempos creating the perfect atmosphere for a walk in the wintery foggy hills. Highly recommended !! Favorite track: Født Under En Svart Måne.

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10 RJ

Another one of those bands whose music is impossible to fit under a simple label or tag, as it's a masterful blend of so many styles with lots of emotions. A bit like "An Abstract Illusion", one of those unique blends, folk, depressive, second wave, and atmospheric black metal styles into an exploratory whole, "the sum greater than its elements combined" kind of art... but it's the end result that counts, and I really liked it. Took a few listens and open-mindedness though. sachavonkarl74
